Annual Service Review Page 2 of 6 None Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection, which was completed on 22 July 2008. This included: The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. Surveys returned to us by seven people using the service. Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service. These are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection. What has this told us about the service? The home sent us their annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) when we asked for it. It was clear and gave us all the information we asked for. We looked at the information in the AQAA, and spoke to the registered manager, and our judgement is that the home is still providing a good service and that they know what further improvements they need to make. Everyone who returned their surveys said that staff always or usually listen and act on what they say except for one, who answered sometimes. However, this person agreed that care staff and the manager always treat them well. Everyone except one who returned their surveys agreed that staff always or usually treat them well. The person who replied sometimes commented elsewhere in their response that home could do better if they would answer yes straight away without waiting til the next jobs done. But all agreed that they knew who they could speak to if they were not happy, and they all knew how to make a complaint. And all those who responded to the question said that they can do what they want during the day, in the evening and at weekends. When asked what the home does well, people made positive comments like Good meals, good drinks, Being considerate about my privacy and being helpful, Everything, Meals and the care staff. When asked what the home could do better, nobody raised any concerns about their care, making comments like Try to be quick at mealtimes, Try to minimise the noise Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 in the conservatory - and lessen arguments therein, and More keep fit. The home continues to let us know about things that have happened since our last key inspection and they have shown that they have managed issues well. They work well with us and have shown us that their service continues to provide good outcomes for the people who use it. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan, and will do a key inspection by 21 July 2010. However we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service.
