Care Homes for Older People Page 3 of 7 What we found: We visited the service to determine whether a regulation 37 notification had been completed and sent to us relating to an accident sustained by an individual in August 2009. We received information subsequent to this accident that it had occurred. A notification is needed when an event occurs that adversely affects the well being of someone who uses the service. The Registered Manager was not available but we were able to speak with the Deputy Manager. No documentation could be located relating to the incident. We were informed that all documentation had been sent to Wirral Social Services given that the incident was currently the subject of a complaint which had been made. We also looked at the system the service had for retaining regulation 37 notices. There is evidence that the service sends regulation 37 notifications to us. Only notifications from 2008 could be produced during our visit and the Deputy Manager was not certain where more recent documents where stored.
