Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection or annual service review. This included The annual quality assuranceassessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. Surveys returned to us by people using the service and from other people with an interest in the service. Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. The previous key inspection and the results of any other visits that we have made to the service in the last 12 months. What has this told us about the service? The AQAA told us that people who use the service are admitted after an full pre admission assessment and that care needs are reviewed monthly. Brochures and a website are available to give people information on the home. It told us that quality assurance measures are in place, questionnaires are sent to people who use the service and their families. There is a residents forum and a residents advocate. The AQAA told us We work closely with district nurses and other health care professionals, particularly when providing end of life care. We access appropriate beds, mattresses and cushions to minimise the possibility of pressure areas and seek their immediate support with specific regard to wound care and tissue viability. The surveys we received from people using the service were positive about the care offered in the home, they look after me well,It is a welcoming and warm place. The professional survey that we received was very positive about all aspects of care in the home. It commented people are clean with clean and well trimmed nails. There is home cooked food and that Rosedale is one of the best care homes in the area. The AQAA does state We provide a wide range of activities, outings and parties to encourage and stimulate the residents mental and physical well being, however in answer to the question Does the home arrange activities that you can take part in all answered-usually and one person went on to comment I need more to do, I get bored. In answer to the question Do you like the meals in the home all replied-usually. All stated that they knew how to make a complaint. The AQAA also told us that they have continued the redecoration of the care home, with the people who use the service having a choice of their preferred colour scheme. There is also a new level access shower and toilet. They have told us where they plan to make improvements in the coming year. Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 Three staff surveys received confirmed that the home is a friendly and supportive place to work and confirmed that they receive training. They all stated that the provider/manager is very supportive. One commented on the inability to hoist people in the home this was discussed with the provider on the telephone and she stated that training will be put in place next week to enable staff to use the hoist. She confirmed that she has taken action to meet the requirements of the last inspection. The provider has shown us that she is aware of changes in the legislation and that she will work towards implementing this. The home continues to let us know about things that have happened since our last key inspection and they have shown that they have managed issues well. They work well with us and have shown us that their service continues to provide good outcomes for the people who use it. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan and will do a Key Inspection before 17/12/10. However we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service.
