Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received about the care home since the last key inspection. This information included the homes Annual Quality Assurance Assessment (AQAA). This is a self-assessment document that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It was completed by the manager of the home. We also asked people who use the service to complete surveys for us. These surveys tell us what it is like for people using this service. We also looked at other information we have about the service. There have been no complaints about this service. The home has told us about any events that have happened. These are called notifications and it is important that the home keeps us upto-date on anything that affects the well being of people using the service. The home is good at keeping us informed of these events. We also look at the previous key inspection and any changes to the service since then. What has this told us about the service? The home sent us their Annual Quality Assurance Assessment (AQAA) when we asked for it. It was clear and gave us all the information we asked for. We looked at the information in the AQAA and our judgement is that the home is still providing a good service. It was very detailed with clear evidence of how the home has improved since the last key inspection. Training for staff continues to improve. All staff have had training in so that they know how to help people stay healthy with nutritious foods. There has been more training in medication, care planning and in Equality and Diversity. This will help staff know how to care for people in the best way. There have also been continued improvements to the redecoration and refurbishment of the accommodation. For example, the lounge/diner has been decorated, and some new bedroom furniture has been purchased. After a period of consultation, the nursing and residential dementia unit has been changed back to one floor, and this has provided more space to move around, and residents are benefiting greatly with the social aspects of having more people around to talk to. There are also plans to move the hairdressing room downstairs, replace carpets in the communal areas, including the dining areas. there are plans to develop the dementia unit, with more focus on residents sensory and tactile needs, and also develop themed areas. the home now has a secure garden area, and service users have been involved in planting seeds, and growing tomatoes. People living in the home tell us that they are happy living here. They said that they liked the food, and that the home is always fresh and clean. One person said that staff always listen and act on what they say. The home continues to let us know about things that have happened since our last key inspection and they have shown that they continue to improve the service for the people who live here. In this way they have shown us that their service continues to provide good outcomes for the people who use it. Three professional surveys were returned to CQC, they said, The home is clean and tidy, and provides a safe environment. From a medical standpoint, i feel the home provides a very good level of care. I have worked with the home for years, and have always found the staff helpful and professional. Eight staff surveys were received, they said, have worked here for a while, it is a Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 lovely home. it is a place where i would put my own mother, if there came a time. The staff are very good at caring and supporting the residents. I have worked here for 6 years. I think it is a good home to work for. It cares for the clients well, and meets their needs well. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan, and will do a key inspection by . However we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people living here.
