This is an overview of what the inspector found during the inspection. The inspection took place on 8 June 2005 and the registered Manager Mrs W Ackermann was available for part of the inspection. The building was inspected and staff, residents and visitors were spoken to. Those spoken to were happy with the care received with two relatives stating that if there was a concern there would be no hesitation in raising it with the staff and that the outcome expected would be favourable. Residents were seen sitting outside in the sunshine. The home has responded favourably to recent adult protection referrals and has made improvements although the manager was asked inappropriately to arrange a strategy meeting for one referral which is contrary to adult protection procedures. What the service does well: What has improved since the last inspection? What they could do better:
In general most residents stated that they enjoyed the food, however some comments were made on the vegetables. The beans were said to be stringy today and one resident and visitor stated that new potatoes have not as yet been served this year. Staff stated that there is choice and a choice was seen being served, but one resident stated that he had not been given a menu to choose from the day before. Menus are not on display in the dining rooms.
