Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at the information we have received or asked for since the homes last key inspection. This included; The Annual Quality Assurance Assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the home. The AQAA is a self assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gives us some numerical information about the service such as numbers of staff and what qualifications they have. Surveys returned to us from people who live or work at the home. What the home has told us about things that have happened. These are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The inspection record. This is a document where we record any activity or information we receive about the home. Information about any complaints we or the home have received and how these have been managed. The previous key inspection report. No additional visits have been made to this home since the last key inspection. What has this told us about the service? The manager sent us their AQAA when we asked for it. The AQAA included a good level of information about how the home has developed since their last key inspection. The AQAA provided evidence that the manager constantly monitors quality and seeks the opinions of those living and working at the home throughout this process. The manager gave us a number of examples of changes that had been made as a result of listening to people who use the service. These included improvements to peoples living areas and the provision of a wide screen television. We received a good response to our written survey and all those who responded were very positive about the service provided. We received some very positive comments from people which included; I feel that all clients are very well cared for to a very high standard. Provides a homely environment and treats service users as individuals. Respects the rights, choices, independence of service users. Works hard to meet the needs of service users. The home looks after me well - could not do anything better than it does. Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 Whilst everyone who responded to our written survey was very positive about the service in general, several people did comment that they felt the provision of activities could be improved. Some people felt that staffing levels didnt allow for regular activities or trips out. This is an area that the manager should explore further. The manager works well with us and keeps us up to date with developments in the service. The manager informs us about any significant incidents that occur and what action has been taken as a result. In viewing information regarding action taken, we were able to determine that the manager had responded appropriately to any concerns raised or incidents affecting the welfare of people living at the home. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan and will carry out a key inspection by 2nd May 2010. However, we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or safety of people using the service.
