What the care home does well
Christchurch Road offers a high quality supportive environment to its service users. Staff appeared to be very dedicated to their work and feedback from everyone was very positive. One service user said `I really like living here, I am excited about my holiday.` A visitor whose sister lived at the home for several years said `this is the best home, the staff are really nice, she couldn`t have lived in a better home.` The house offers a homely, clean environment to service users, the courtyard garden offers seating and a BBQ area. Service users bedrooms are personalised and can be locked by service users. Care plans are comprehensive and are reviewed regularly with the involvement of service users and other professionals. Procedures relating to medication are satisfactory. Service users are protected by the homes recruitment procedures and staff undertake regular on-going training. Staff receive regular supervision and an annual appraisal.
What has improved since the last inspection?
A new front door has been fitted which has improved the appearance of the entrance to the home. Procedures relating to medication have been recently reviewed due to a medication error. The manager has investigated the incident and precautions are being taken by staff to ensure that this does not reoccur.
What the care home could do better:
The carpet in the lounge is heavily stained in areas from cigarette burns and ash. This should be replaced with a more suitable floor covering. There is a faulty doorguard on the kitchen door, which must be replaced.
