Two inspectors visited Daneside Court unannounced on 25 February 2010. The purpose of the visit was to check compliance with the requirement made following our key inspection on 18 June 2009. Any references to we or us in the report refer to the Commission. The outcome is as follows: Requirement: There must always be enough staff on duty to ensure that the health, safety and welfare of the people living at the home are maintained. We spoke to the acting manager who told us that this requirement had been met and there was always enough staff members on duty. We spoke to a family member and two of the nursing staff who all told us that this problem had been addressed. The rota we looked at also confirmed that there were enough staff on duty all of the time. The manager in post at the time of the previous key inspection has left the home; she has been replaced on a temporary basis by the manager of Daneside Mews which is a residential home on the same site. The family member and nurses we saw spoke very positively about this appointment and that the acting manager had been instrumental in addressing the staffing issues. They all told us that she should be given the job on a permanent basis as the home needed a period of continuity and good leadership. We consider that the requirement made has been fully complied with.
