What did we do for this annual service review? An annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) was sent by us to the service. The AQAA is a self assessment and a dataset that is filled in once a year by all providers and it is one of the main ways that we will get information from providers about how they are meeting outcomes for people using their service. The AQAA also provides us with statistical information about the individual services and trends and patterns in social care. Surveys returned to us by people using the service and from other people with an interest in the service. Information about how the manager has managed any complaints. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service. These are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection and the results of any other visits that we have made to the service in the last twelve months. Relevant information from other organisations and what other people have told us about the service. What has this told us about the service? The service has completed the annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA). At the time of this report we received completed survey forms from 6 residents. Responses to the questionnaires were positive. Some families have completed their relatives questionnaire on their behalf. Comments included: The love and care provided by Ince Blundell Nursing Home is excellent. All the staff have time and interest in providing all the care, help and comfort that my husband needs at all times. This is an exceptional nursing home, which provides all the care and support we could have hoped for. He wants for nothing. The home provides care and attention at all times. Staff are trained to listen to both residents and relations. If my father does not eat well at the appointed time, I know staff will offer food later. The very fact that my father is still with us is testament to the care and attention he receives. Personally the home looks after my needs very well and cares for me. I find my dietary needs are also met. I would just like to add that the atmosphere of the home is very warm and welcoming. Any visitors I have, receive the same impression. My family are especially pleased that I am here in such a beautiful place. Another advantage is the beautiful grounds surrounding the home. All of the staff support my mum with loving care. They also support the family. Their Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 hospitality to all of my mums visitors could not be better. My mum requires increasing care because of her illness and she always receives it. The home provides excellent accommodation in a beautiful setting. There is always a calm atmosphere conducive to the needs of the older person. First class standards of hygiene. Excellent well balanced menus. The staff provide excellent and friendly care to each individual. In every respect the older person is treated with the utmost care and dignity. These high standards should be seen as the criteria that other homes should strive for. We also received completed survey forms from 5 staff. Comments included: I believe all of our residents get quality and quantity care. The home does very well looking after all the residents. We often receive cards from families and friends thanking all of the staff for how well we have looked after their relatives. The residents are well cared for and the nursing home is spotlessly clean and free from smells. Residents are made to feel at home and some visitors have stated that the staff here are like guardian angels and are happy with the wonderful care given. Residents who come for respite care come back regularly. We care well for the residents. Our standards are high and we treat residents with the respect they deserve. The home provides a caring and spiritual environment for the residents. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan. We will do a key inspection by 30th September 2010. We can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using it.
