Care Homes for Older People Page 3 of 8 What we found:
We visited the service in an unannounced capacity for four hours to look at the services admission process and service user plans. We did this because concerns had been raised regarding the quality of information in service user plans following a safe guarding adult referral. We looked at the admission details and service user plans for two service users. We found that one resident had not been assessed as per the service policy before they were admitted to the home. The manager confirmed that all prospective service users are assessed but we found that on this occasion the service user had not been assessed and was admitted as an emergency admission with needs which were outside the services categories of registration. Service users care plans were inconsistent with the information they contained and it was not always clear how residents were to be supported. We identified a fire risk issue which has not been addressed by the organization even though they are aware of it and that it places a service user at potential risk in the event of a fire.
