We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for since the last key inspection or annual service review This included: The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. Surveys returned to us by people using the service and from other people with an interest in the service. Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection and the results of any other visits that we have made to the service in the last 12 months. Relevant information from other organisations. What other people have told us about the service. What has this told us about the service? We received the Annual Quality Assurance Assessment shortly after the time we requested it. For the most part this assessment provided us with information we needed in respect of those parts of the service that are working well, those that have improved and those areas that need to further improve. The assessment was not complete. No information was present on when policies and procedures had been updated and there was no indication as to how many complaints the service had received or the number of safeguarding referrals that had been made by the service. We also did not receive information on the needs of individuals and the support they required. The service considers that it does the following well: Results of relatives survey, Audits, Policies and procedures accessible to all, further details on Southern Cross Health Care website. It considers that the following has improved: Continual training and auditing for home manager and the following could be better: Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 Involve our service users in the interview and recruitment process when considering applications for employment.
