What the care home does well
Orchard Close provides a pleasant environment in which to stay and there is a homely atmosphere. Service users are assessed before they come to Orchard Close to make sure that the service can meet their needs and wishes. All service users have a care plan and are supported to make decisions about their daily lives and take part in planning activities. Service users have opportunities to take part in a range of activities both inside and outside of the home. There is a well-trained and friendly staff team and the service is well managed.
What has improved since the last inspection?
The registered manager was able to show that service users` medication is given by staff who are trained to do so, which was a requirement at the last inspection. A quality assurance system based on the views of service users had been introduced, which meets a previous recommendation, and the registered manager had made a report about what the service does and what it could do better. A person centred care plan is in place for all people who used the service last year and for those who are booked to use the service this year. A shortened version of the terms and conditions of the service had also been produced in an easy-to-read style.
What the care home could do better:
There were no requirements or recommendations made as a result of this visit.
