Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received about the care home since the last key inspection. This information included the homes Annual Quality Assurance Assessment (AQAA). This is a self-assessment document that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It was completed by the manager of the home. We also asked people who use the service to complete surveys for us. These surveys tell us what it is like for people using this service. We also looked at other information we have about the service. The home has told us about any events that have happened. These are called notifications and it is important that the home keeps us up-to-date on anything that affects the well being of people using the service. The home is good at keeping us informed of these events. We also look at the previous key inspection and any changes to the service since then. What has this told us about the service? The home sent us their Annual Quality Assurance Assessment (AQAA) when we asked for it. It was clear and gave us all the information we asked for. We looked at the information in the AQAA and our judgement is that the home is still providing a good service. The manager is a first level registered nurse, and has managed Stanley Park for a year. To support the manager, the home has recently appointed a deputy manager. You told us that staffing has become more stable, with less turnover. This has created a stable staff team on each unit. You said that you hold regular meetings with GPs and other agencies to evaluate feedback. This is good practice. You also hold monthly meetings with service users and their families, and these meetings are well attended. There has been more training in medication, care planning and in Equality and Diversity. You told us that 88 of care staff are trained to NVQ level 2 or above in care. Training is ongoing for all staff, and care staff are being encouraged to become more involved in care planning. You told us that dignity champions have been introduced, and that privacy and dignity are maintained at all times. You told us that your chef meets every new client personally to discuss their nutritional requirements. The company has also introduced a system called nutmeg, this monitors and shows the nutritional components of each meal. The chef has also completed, Focus on Under -Nutrition training provided by the NHS. Stanley Park is a purpose built care centre. It continues to provide a safe, comfortable environment. The home is clean and well maintained. People living in the home tell us that they are happy living here. They said that they liked the food, and that the home is always fresh and clean. Several said that staff always listen and act on what they say. One service user said, They do everything well, i always get the care i need. Another said, The care staff do a good Job, i am Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 quite satisfied with the service. Staff surveys were returned, the following comments were received: I have worked here since it opened, and i have enjoyed every minute of it, its a good place to work. I enjoy working here, the training is good, but it is sometimes hard to fit it all in. It would be better if we had higher staffing levels. The home continues to let us know about things that have happened since our last key inspection, and they have shown us that their service continues to provide good outcomes for the people who use it. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan, and will do a key inspection by . However we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people living here.
