What the care home does well
The manager and staff are good at introducing new people to the home, ensuring their needs are carefully matched to the services the home can offer. This leads to a high number of successful placements and relatives reporting that they were well supported by the home during this time. Health care needs are carefully monitored and residents and relatives are confident that the home can meet their health and personal care needs. The home works closely with other professionals to make sure they can meet each person`s need. A visiting GP said "The care offered to my patients is good, I`m called out appropriately, and my instructions are followed. We have a good working relationship".
What has improved since the last inspection?
NA- First Inspection
What the care home could do better:
While peoples` personal and healthcare needs are judged to be well met by the staff team the opportunities for stimulation and activities were assessed as being inadequate. This is particularly the case for activities and care of people with dementia, and staff would benefit from training and knowledge in latest good practice in dementia care. The handling of medication could be improved by the manager carrying out regular audits and setting up a two person checking system. The area of fire safety should be given priority and staff training given at the required intervals.
