What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection. This included: The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. Our most recent key inspection and an annual service review. Four surveys returned to us by staff. One survey returned by a relative of a service user. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. What has this told us about the service? At our most recent key inspection of October 2007, we said that the home provided a good quality of service. In the Annual Service Review that we carried out in October 2008 we concluded that it continued to do so. The manager confirmed that the one requirement that we made at the time of the key inspection had been met. This related to the need for relief staff to complete all necessary pre employment checks. The home sent us their Annual Quality Assurance Assessment (AQAA) when we asked for it. It was detailed and let us know how the home continues to meet National Minimum Standards and Care Home Regulations. The organisation has gathered information from people who live at the home , to find out how they feel about the service . At our request the manager sent us the outcomes of this information. This was completed with the help of relatives and showed that people were generally satisfied with the service provided. Staff surveyed confirmed that their employer had carried out thorough checks when they were recruited. They also said that they felt that they had enough support, experience and knowledge to meet the different needs of people who live at the home. They said they are provided with relevant training and generally felt that there were sufficient staff to meet the individual needs of those who use the service. Comments made by staff showed that they clearly understand their role as enabling people to make choices and the importance of respecting peoples personal preferences Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 The manager has notified us of any important things that have happened in the service and has provided information to indicate that they have managed issues well. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan, and will do a key inspection by 10th October 2010. However we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service. Annual Service Review Page 5 of 6 Reader Information
