Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at the annual quality assurance assessment that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. We noted what was on the three (of six) surveys that were returned to us by people who live in the home. These had been completed with the help of staff members. We checked what the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. We looked at the previous key inspection report and the results of any other visits that we have made to the service in the last 12 months. We looked at any relevant information, given to us by other organisations. We looked to see if other people have told us anything about the service. We spoke to the area manager and acting manager, of the home, by telephone. What has this told us about the service? The home sent us their annual quality assurance assessment, when we asked for it. It was clear and gave us all the information we asked for. We looked at the information in the AQAA and our judgement is that the home is still providing an excellent service. The home continues to let us know about things that have happened since our last key inspection, for instance about any staff issues and the well being of the people who use the service, they work well with us and have shown us that their service continues to provide excellent outcomes for the people who use it. The AQAA noted that there have been several developments, some as a result of listening to the views of the people who use the service. These include changes to day services with some people choosing to retire or reduce their activities, more opportunity for people to tell senior management how they feel about the home (everyone counts meetings) and the introduction of a simple postcard complaint system. The AQAA included developments that the home intend to pursue in the coming year, to enhance the lifestyle of those who live in the home. These include, to instigate monthly key worker meetings, re-develop and landscape the back garden and develop an audio service user guide. The AQAA reported the organisations diversity group is active, produces a newsletter and held a diversity fun day in the summer of 2009. The AQAA reported that all Polices and Procedures are current and are reviewed as necessary. Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 The registered manager is not working in the home, at present, it is being temporarily managed by and experienced manager, the area manager advised that the long term management of the home should be clearer by the end of January. The Commission is kept informed of all developments. The home reported that six complaints have been received by them and all have been upheld. There have been no safeguarding incidents or concerns. No information about complaints or safeguarding issues have been received from anyone other than the service, by the Commission, since the last inspection. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan, and will do a key inspection by the 26th February 2012. However we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service.
