Annual Service Review Page 2 of 6 Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we received, or asked for, since the last inspection. This included : The Annual Quality Assurance Assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. The Annual Service Review also includes what the service has told us about things that have happened in the home, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. We have not received any information about this service that gives cause for concern and would make us think that the current quality rating is not accurate. What has this told us about the service? The service sent us their Annual Quality Assurance Assessment (AQAA) when we asked for it. It was basic and however all of the information required was provided. It is important that time is spent on completing this document in detail. The content of the AQAA helps to determine the rating of the home and the frequency of the inspection cycle. We looked at the information in the AQAA and our judgment is that the home is still providing a good service and they continue to identify ways to further enhance their service. Each person that lives at the home has a person centered care profile. This is available for all significant people to read giving them an opportunity to gain a good understanding of the individual needs of the people that they are caring for and their ways of communicating. The service is currently re-evaluating their support packages for individuals. They are using a national model to undertake the support evaluations. The home also told us of other improvements they have made since our last review of the service. This includes a new bath being provided in a communal bathroom and the service has also started to introduce new furniture around the home to create a more homely and comfortable environment. Staff training now includes diversity training and staff have been issued with diversity information packs to assist the in their daily tasks. The service still does not have a registered manager with the Commission. This is an outstanding requirement for the service. The AQQA stated that he service was in the process of interviewing people for the vacant post. This will be followed up by the Commission before the next inspection of the service The quality rating for this service is 2* star. This means the people who use this service experience good quality outcomes. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan and will do a key inspection by 13th July 2010. However we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service.
