Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received and asked for, since the last key inspection of 8th December 2008. We looked at their annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA); this is their own assessment of how they are doing, that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for the person using the service. We looked at surveys returned to us by the person using the service and from other people with an interest in the service. We looked at how the service has managed any complaints. We looked at what the service has told us about things that have happened in the service; notifications that are a legal requirement. We also looked at our last report on the service, relevant information from other organisations and what other people have told us about the service. What has this told us about the service? The home sent us their annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) when we asked for it. It was clear and gave us all the information we asked for. We looked at the information in the AQAA and our judgement is that the home is still providing a good service and that they know what further improvements they need to make. The person living in the home always tells us that they are happy there. Told us that they usually made their own decisions and were pleased with the support they received, particularly in managing their healthcare needs. The person has lived with Mr and Mrs Cottle for over fifteen years. In the AQAA Mrs Cottle told us that the documentation had improved. She also told us about events during the last year, including the persons holiday and social events. Mrs Cottle met regularly with the person who uses the service to talk about whether there were any problems or concerns. Mrs Cottle told us that here had been improvements to the environment with redecoration, a new television and a microwave. The grounds had also been improved. Mrs Cottle had updated her training in health and safety, food hygiene, medication, infection control and fire safety. The home continues to let us know about things that have happened since our last key inspection and they have shown that they have managed issues well. They work well with us and have shown us that their service continues to provide good outcomes for the person who lives there. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? Subject to any changes in registration and inspection practice following implementation of the Health and Social Care Act 2008, our current plan is to do a key inspection by 8th December 2010. However we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service.
