What the care home does well Discussions with people living in the home evidenced they are supported and encouraged to maximize their daily life.Comments included:- I enjoy sporting activities and have been to see my favorite football team. Staff help me to enjoy my days doing what I want to do. Records show that daily activities are arranged to suit each individual choice. Examination of care plans and other associated records showed that people are encouraged to be as independent as possible and to make everyday choices in their daily living. Polices and practices in place ensure that people living in the home can have their say and can live in safe environment in which staff are trained to protect them form abuse or harm. It is typical of the houses in that area and as such does not detract from the community presence of the people who live there. It is registered with the Commission for Social Care Inspection to care for up to 6 adults with a learning disability.

The bedrooms are all of a single type and reflect the interests and personality of the current occupants. There is a lounge and a separate diner/kitchen. The home has a well-maintained rear/side garden and a small garden to the front of the home. At the time of the inspection the charges of this home were #515 weekly. A random inspection of Sunnyfield care home was carried out by one inspector on 21st June 2010. The unannounced site visit was undertaken to gather information from the home in relation to the services they provide ,especially in relation to personal and health care support and protection. Prior to the visit being made the manager had completed a questionnaire called an Annual Quality Assurance Assessment . This gives information about how the home is meeting the needs of the people who use the service and includes future plans for service development. Surveys were also made available to people living in the home and staff to find out their views. Other information received since the last key inspection was also reviewed. During the visit care plans and other records were checked to see what care and support people received. Discussions were held with staff and people living in the home and general observations carried out. All information gained from the above methods have been used as a basis for this report.
