Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review:
What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received about Bradbury House care home since the last inspection on 2nd December 2008 . This information included the homes Annual Quality Assurance Assessment (AQAA). This is a self-assessment document that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It was completed by the acting manager of the home. The previous registered manager left the home in August 2009. We also asked people who use the service to complete surveys for us. These surveys tell us what it is like for people using this service. We also looked at other information we have about the service. The home has told us about any events that have happened. These are called notifications and it is important that the home keeps us up-to-date on anything that affects the well being of people using the service. Bradbury House is good at keeping us informed of these events. We also look at the previous key inspection and any changes to the service since then. What has this told us about the service? The home sent us their Annual Quality Assurance Assessment (AQAA) when we asked for it. It was clear and gave us most of the information we asked for. We looked at the information in the AQAA and our judgment is that the home is still providing an excellent service. It included evidence of how the home has improved since the last key inspection. The acting manager indicated on the AQQA that the following improvements have been made since the last inspection. The home has supported people who use the service to attend relevant training opportunities and regional meetings. Volunteer input has increased to support people to achieve goals and aspirations both on an individual and group basis. The lighting around the perimeter of the building has been improved which has enhanced the health and safety of people. Fencing has been erected to the south side of the building to maintain privacy. Staffing hours have been increased and quality assurance systems have been expanded so that changes can be made as a result of listening to people who use the service. The home has received one complaint since the last inspection. This was dealt with internally. From the surveys returned, people living in the home tell us that they are happy living here. They said that like the food and that the home is always clean and fresh. They also said that they get the support and help that they need, staff act upon what they say and that they would know how to make a complaint if they were unhappy. Comments received include, Accommodates what I want to do. Sees to personal needs. Often attentive and happy to chat and listen to any concerns. Light hearted Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 manner makes me feel happy. Prepare and serve good meals. Gives excellent care and all other requirements. When asked what the home could do better one person said, Review possibility of some therapy for physical needs. Social and health care professionals who returned surveys were also very complimentary about the home. Comments include, I find the provision of care consistent and to be of a high standard. The manager and staff are always proactive in response to suggestions and endeavour to ensure multi disciplinary working for the benefit of people. Cares for clients with a variety of complex health and social care treating each as an individual to ensure their specific needs are identified and met. They deliver support to people on an individual basis. They are all dedicated to maintain their safety, privacy and dignity. The staff are very friendly. They update training on a regular basis. Comments in staff surveys indicated that they always aim to deliver a high standard of care and that they feel appropriately trained and supported to meet the needs of the people who live in the home. The home continues to let us know about things that have happened since our last key inspection and they have shown that they continue to improve the service for the people who live at Bradbury House. In this way they have shown us that their service continues to provide excellent outcomes for the people who use it. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan, and will do a key inspection by 1st December 2011. However we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people living here. Annual Service Review Page 5 of 6 Reader Information
