If yes, what have they been: Date of last key inspection: Date of last annual service review (if applicable): Brief description of the service The service underwent re-registration in 2008 due to a change in provider company, although there was no change in the majority of people involved in providing, managing and caring at Cherry Tree Lodge. This home provides spacious, attractive accommodation, including all single bedrooms with en suite toilets. There is plenty of communal space such as lounges and dining areas, plus a sensory garden to the rear.
Annual Service Review Page 2 of 5 1 9 0 1 2 0 0 9 Older people with dementia are cared for on the first floor and other older people have their accommodation downstairs. The home is well equipped with aids and adaptations. There is a well qualified caring team and manager. There is space for car parking to the front and side of the building. At the last key inspection, the weekly fee charged varied between £395 and £475, although the actual amount payable depends on peoples individual circumstances. What did we do for this annual service review? We examined the homes Annual Quality Assurance Assessment, which is the homes self-assessment of its performance to date. We looked at surveys that people who use the service and staff had completed and returned to us with their comments. We considered notifications made by the service and sent to us about significant events. We reviewed the findings of the last key inspection carried out on 19th January 2009. What has this told us about the service? Cherry Tree Lodge continues to do well against all of the key National Minimum Standards concerning Older People, in terms of positive outcomes for the people who use the service. People who use the service and their representatives say that they are happy with the Care Home. Typical comments received from people who use the service and staff include: I always receive the care and support I need. Staff always listen and act on what I say. I always get the medical care I need. The home takes care of the elderly very well, taking into consideration individual needs etc. The home has a very nice atmosphere and is a very pleasant place to work. The home has good professional relationships with external health and social care agencies. The service is well managed and there are good quality assurance systems in place, with support from external senior managers provided by the Executive Care Group. The home has a good staff team of well trained personnel. Most care staff have gained qualifications in Care at National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) level 2 or above, and many of the remainder are working towards the award. There are good staff induction and training programmes organised by the home, including dementia awareness. The personal care provided is very good and a person-centred approach is taken. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? The service is progressing well and its Quality Rating continues to be excellent. There is no intention to carry out a key inspection of Cherry Tree Lodge before January 2012.
