What did we do for this annual service review? This quality rating for this service is 2 star. People who use this service experience good quality outcomes. The rating was made on 2nd October 2007 following a key inspection. We looked at all the information that we received, or asked for, since the last key inspection. This included: The Annual Quality Assurance Assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self- assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the home, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous inspection. Relevant information from other organisations. What other people have told us about the service. What has this told us about the service? The home sent us their Annual Quality Assurance Assessment (AQAA) when we asked for it. It was clear and gave us all the information we asked for. We looked at the information in the AQAA and our judgement is that the home is still providing a good service and they know of the further improvements they need to make. Changes to the menu have been made following recent food questionnaires where people who use the service expressed their preferences. The home has recruited a new activity organiser/co-ordinator for a more planned and structured approach to activities. Additional efforts have been made by holding meetings and one to one chats, to gain the opinions of the people who use the service for places to visit and activities to take part in. There are more escorted trips into town so that people who use the service can access the local shops and coffee shops and feel more involved in the local community. People who use the service have access to an exercise class, which is held in the local church hall. Gentle exercise is enjoyed, along with entertainment. The manager has accessed a care liaison service and a nurse visits every three weeks to try to help advise on any issues relating to specific people who use the service and questions which staff may have relating to a persons care. Annual Service Review Page 3 of 5 What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan, and will do a key inspection by 7th October 2010. However we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service. Annual Service Review Page 4 of 5 Reader Information
