Annual Service Review Page 2 of 5 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received since the last key inspection This included: The annual quality assurance assessment which we call the aqaa that was sent to us by the service. The aqaa is a self assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection and the results of any other visits that we have made to the service in the last 12 months. What residents have told us about the service. What has this told us about the service? We received the completed aqaa self assessment docuement on time from the home. We could see that there was really good information in the aqaa. It was very detailed with evidence and good examples of ways that the home has improved since the last key inspection. In the aqaa document it says that the home do the following to ensure that the views of people who use their services are promoted and incorporated into what they do:All individuals are offered a monthly group meeting and annual meeting. In addition, informal and everyday conversations are sometimes more natural. These are small meetings for individuals to talk about how things are going and what they would like to do. All meetings are documented through minutes being taken. Each individual has the opportunity to complete an annual service user questionnaire, which are analysed and actioned by the staff team. The following changes have also been made as a result of listening to the people who use the services : Due to positive feedback from the individuals who use the service we have continued with the healthy heart club, ran holidays at home for twelve individuals as well as an annual holiday for four individuals. The raised flower beds have been planted out, with flowers and plants chosen and bought by the individuals who live at Mortimer at Cloverdown. We have increased the variety and frequency of in-house entertainers due to the popularity of these events. We read some very interesting information in the aqaa document about how the principals of equality and diversity are reflected in the way that the home is run and in how residents are treated. We have quoted this extract:Aspects and Milestones Trust operates a strict Equal Opportunities policy and as the Home Manager I endeavour to uphold and advocate these principals. All individuals who use the service have a person centered plan, specific to their own individual support needs. The whole ethos of Mortimer at Cloverdown is centered around respect of the individual. Recognising Annual Service Review Page 3 of 5 diversity is an important part of wholly respecting and supporting a person. It could be considered that not fulfilling this, could be detrimental to an individuals life and the way in which they are supported. Mortimer at Cloverdown endeavours to achieve this by listening to the individuals who use the service with non judgemental and respectful approach and attitudes. The statement of purpose clearly outlines the diversity in need of individuals who are supported at Mortimer at Cloverdown. When we did the last key inspection we found when we looked at what the home does well the following outcomes that we have quoted for this annual service review as we think these really good outcomes still apply:Residents receive a supportive and caring service from the staff. Residents have a varied and well balanced diet. Residents can take part in a range of social and therapeutic activities to meet their needs. Staff do a good range of training to help them in their work and in understanding the needs of the residents. We were sent back six survey forms from residents who live at the home. Each person who completed a survey form was very happy and satisfied with the care and support that they receive. This helps to show us that residents feel really well supported. We are always told about important things that have happened in the home since we did our last key inspection. The home is managed in a way that shows it has the interests of the people who live there at the center of what they do. We have not received any concerns or complaints about the home over the last year. We think outcomes for the people in the home may well be even better then at the time of the inspection. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan and will do a key inspection as part of our inspection programme. However we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service.
