Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection. This included: The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. This was looked at and the information provided taken into account. The AQAA is a self-assessment that informs us about outcomes for people who use the service. As well as other information, it also tells us what the service has done within the previous 12 months, what they think they are doing well and how they could develop and their plans to do so in the next 12 months. Surveys were provided to people who use the service and to staff working at the home. We looked at information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. We considered what the service has told us about things that have happened in the service. These are called notifications and are a legal requirement. We looked at the history of the service by reflecting on previous inspection outcomes. Any other relevant information from other organisations was considered along with what other people have told us about the service. What has this told us about the service? The home sent us their AQAA when we asked for it. The assessment was clear and gave us all the information we asked for. We looked at the information in the AQAA and our judgment is that the home is still providing a good service and that they know what their plans for further improvement are over the next 12 months. Surveys were returned by 8 staff and 8 people living at the home. These confirmed that people were generally satisfied with the overall quality of care provided. People said they always got the medical care they needed and 5 people said they always got the personal care and support they needed whilst 2 said they usually did, although 1 person said they only sometimes did. Five people said staff always listened and acted on what they said and 3 said they usually did. Comments included, The staff are very caring and patient and were real angels without wings to my mum whilst she was settling in (even though they were rushed off their feet) and Staff are excellent. They go out of their way to help all the residents. People said there were always (5) or usually (3) activities they could join in with and that they always (2) or usually (5) liked meals at the home, although 1 person said they only sometimes liked the food. Staff told us in their surveys that they were given training to update their knowledge and that the manager met with them regularly to provide support and guidance. In the AQAA it was reported that 63 of carers working at the home had successfully completed National Vocational Qualifications (NVQ). Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 We have received no complaints about this service and people in the surveys told us they knew who to speak to if they were unhappy with any aspect of the service. Other comments we received about the service included, Davenport Manor is a lovely care home, very well maintained and the staff are brilliant. Highly recommended, I am very happy here and this is my home. I feel spoilt since living here, I feel very happy and safe and Overall I think the home is excellent. Looking at all the evidence available to us, our judgment is that there is no reason to change the current rating of the home. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? The Care Quality Commission will continue to monitor information about this service and will carry out an inspection when required.
