What the care home does well The home assesses residents` levels of dependence/ independence and a full programme to support residents in their independence skills is in place. Individual residents have their own timetables, which included a variety of activities such as college courses, attendance at day and community centres, and work-based activities. Some of the activities the residents participate in include art, wildllife study, music, culture, and fitness classes, horticultural work arranged at the Blendworth Centre, and one resident is employed for four days of the week. All the residents are occupied positively during the working week, enhancing their feelings of self-esteem and self-worth, and they are fully involved in the running of the home. Residents` social skills are supported by attendance at social clubs, special Olympics and outings in the community. A wide variety of leisure activities are provided and relationships encouraged and supported. Residents spoken with had enjoyed holidays in Cornwall and were in the process of planned holidays for this year. The environment is homely, clean and well-maintained. Improvements undertaken over previous twelve months included; replacing carpets, re-furbishing bathrooms, completely re-decorating three resident`s bedrooms (with input from the residents), replacing the kitchen floor, and completing improvements from the fire audit, as recommended by the Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service. The home has a team of loyal and dedicated staff and no staff member has left the home`s employment over the previous two years, resulting in consistency and continuityof support for the residents.
