What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received since the last key inspection on 2/12/08. This included: - The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people who use the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. - Surveys returned to us from people who use the service and staff. - Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. - What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service. These are called notifications and are a legal requirement. - The previous key inspection report. - Relevant information from other organisations. What has this told us about the service? We looked at the information in the AQAA and our judgement is that Jacobs Lodge is still providing a good service and knows what further improvements they need to make. We received completed surveys from nine people who use the service. Comments received included I am very happy at Jacobs Lodge and for me they could not do any better, I am very happy with everything that (Jacobs Lodge) does for me and Jacobs Lodge makes me happy. One person commented that they would like more outings arranged. The manager reported in the AQAA that this was one of the areas they planned to improve over the year. We received completed surveys from six staff. All six said they received training that was relevant to their role, helped them understand and meet peoples individual needs, keeps them up to date with new ways of working and gives them enough knowledge about health care and medication. Comments from staff included, the current management are good at putting service users first, the service is good at giving service users their independence and supports service users with dignity and respect. The service continues to let us know about things that have happened since our last key inspection and they have shown that they have managed issues well. They work well with us and have shown us that Jacobs Lodge continues to provide good outcomes for the people who use it. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change out inspection plan and will do a key inspection by 1/12/2011. However, we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service.
