Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection. This included: - The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. - Surveys returned to us by people using the service and from other people with an interest in the service. - Information we have about how the service has managed complaints. - What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. - The previous key inspection and the results of any other visits that we have made to the service in the last 12 months. - Relevant information from other organisations. - What other people have told us about the service. What has this told us about the service? The home sent us their annual quality assurance assessment ( AQAA ) when we asked for it. We looked at the information in the AQAA and our judgment is that the home is still providing a good service and that they know what further improvements they need to make. The AQAA told us that improvements have been made in the way the home plans the care that people receive. The documents called care plans are now written in a more person centered way so that they can really involve the individual in this process. The home has also developed the contact they have with services that provide housing and supportive living schemes. This is to ensure that they can support people who may express a wish to move into a more independent setting. The AQAA also stated that the service continues to provide a consistent staff team who are able to meet peoples needs and support them to live independent and meaningful lives. We received three surveys from people who currently live at May Terrace. Staff Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 working in the home had supported people to complete and return this information. People said in the surveys that they are able to choose what to do during the day, evenings and weekends, they know how to make a complaint, and are treated well by the staff. The home continues to let us know about things that have happened since our last inspection and they have shown that they have managed issues well. The Commission has not received any complaints about this service since the last key inspection. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? The last key Inspection of this service took place on the 19th November 2008. At the time the service was rated as two star, which means that people receive a good quality service. This Annual service review has not changed our opinion of the service. We will continue with our inspection plan for this service, however, we can inspect at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service.
