What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection or annual service review. This included; The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. Surveys returned to us by people using the service and by staff. Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection report. Relevant information from other organisations. What other people have told us about the service. Information from any visits we have made to the service. What has this told us about the service? The care home sent their AQAA when we asked for it. It gave the basic information required, however some sections were brief and lacked evidence of the outcomes for people living at the home. Four surveys were received from people who live at the home they were positive in their views about the standards of care at Rushley House. The comments included: The home is always well kept and clean with plenty of staff, who are always friendly and helpful. The meals are very good and the grounds are always tidy. The staff are always very polite. Everyones birthday is recognised. Christmas is a very enjoyable occasion. The AQAA indicated that there have been no changes to the admission processes at the home. These have been investigated in line with the complaints procedure. All people at the home Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 are given a copy of the complaints procedure and sign to acknowledge receipt of this. Staff are trained in safeguarding. The home has policies and procedures in place to deal with any safeguarding issues. The AQAA indicates that the home is well maintained and meets health and safety requirements. People have specialist equipment to maximise their independence. Staff have attended training in Infection Control. There is a low turnover of staff at the home which provides consistency of care.
