Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection or annual service review. This included the annual quality assurance assessment, AQAA, that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. Surveys returned to us by people using the service and from other people with an interest in the service. Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection and the results of any other visits that we have made to the service in the last 12 months. Relevant information from other organisations. What other people have told us about the service. What has this told us about the service? The service returned the AQAA. It gave us all the information we asked for. The AQAA shows that the home asks the views of residents about their satisfaction with the standard of service provided. Surveys were returned by 7 staff and 1 resident. Staff report that they are given up to date information about the care needs of residents and that they received an induction when they started work. Relevant training is also provided to staff, although one staff member said that this does not give enough knowledge about health care and medication. Staff report that they work as a team and that they are supported by the homes manager. Surveys from staff also state that there are enough staff to meet the care needs of the residents. The one survey returned by a resident stated that care and support is only sometimes provided and that staff are only sometimes available. Comment was made that there are delays when waiting for the toilet and that there should be more stimulation including trips outside. The AQAA sates that activities have been developed. Residents are asked about activities and 35 per cent say they are satisfied with the entertainment and 72 per cent satisfied with the food. This person also said that they do not know what the complaints procedure is and that there isnt anyone available to discuss concerns in an informal way. The homes own surveys showed a 80 per cent satisfaction in this area according to the AQAA. The environment is described a clean and of a good standard by both staff and the resident. This finding is also reflected in the homes own residents surveys. Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan, and will do a key inspection by 13/10/2010. However we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service.
