Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? An annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) was sent by us to the registered manager of the home. The AQAA is a self assessment and a dataset that is completed once a year by all registered providers. It is one of the main ways in which we obtain information about how they are meeting outcomes for people using their service. The AQAA also provides statistical information about the individual service. We requested the views of some of the people that have an interest in this service. This included people who live in The Croft and people who work at the the home. These views were gathered by the use of surveys. We received survey forms from the three people living in the home and two members of staff. The information contained in the last inspection report also contributed to this annual service review. We checked whether there had been any complaints made about the care provided or whether there had been any matters regarding the safeguarding of vulnerable adults. There had been no complaints made, neither had there been any adult protection issues. What has this told us about the service? From the information contained in the AQAA, and that received from other agencies we judged that this service continues to meet the National Minimum Standards of the Care Standards Act. Comments made by those living in The Croft told us that they were all more than happy with the support and care they received from the manager and her staff. These included, This is the most wonderful care home and there is nothing that could be done better, The home does everything well, The home creates a lovely family atmosphere but with respected ptivacy and Things are done to my satisfaction and I cant really think of anything they could do better. One of the surveys had been completed for the resident by a member of her family and the comments included, The Croft really does well looking after my aunt, She is always very warm and well looked after and My aunt is very lucky to be living in The Croft. Members of staff also told us that the home , Provides a friendly and safe environment for three ladies, We have enough time to care for their every need as well as respecting their privacy and I donnt think we can do any more than we do. On the AQAA Mrs Haygarth, the manager, told us of some of the changes she has made in order to improve still further the care and support provided by this service. The manager and staff have improved their listening skills particularly when welcoming a new resident into the home. This has helped to make the admission process go smoothly and with as little upheaval as possible. The home now looks at the assessment of the residents in a more person-centred way in order to ensure they remain as independent as possible for as long as possible. An adult protection and whistle blowwing policy has been introduced and although there has never been any issues regarding this, the staff are now aware of the procedure to follow. Decoration and maintenance of the property is ongoing so the environmental standards remain high. Staffing is consistent with most of the part time staff having worked at The Croft for a number of years. They know the residents well and meet to discuss any changing needs and how best these can be met. The manager will continue to seek to improve on what is already a good service by Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 ensuring the level of care and support provided remains as high as possible. She is in constant touch with the residents and welcomes their comments about the running of the home. All the policies and procedures have been updated since the last inspection. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We will continue to monitor this service and will complete a key inspection when required.
