Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? The annual service review for The Croft Care Home included the following: The annual quality assurance assessment document (AQAA) was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self assessment document and a dataset that is filled in once a year by all providers and is one of the main ways we get information from providers about how they are meeting outcomes for people using their service. The AQAA also provides us with statistical information about the service, trends and patterns in social care. Surveys of users of the service and staff. A review of what the service has told us about since the last key inspection. A review of the findings of the last unannounced key inspection. What has this told us about the service? The AQAA was completed by the registered manager to a satisfactory standard and was promptly returned. It showed that the home is committed to a high standard of care and to gaining the views of people living there as a means of improving practice. The document showed that full assessment material is obtained on new users prior to admission and that the work is based on full care planning to provide an individualised programme of work. The AQAA stated that there are a full range of activities for people living in the home and a flexible and appropriate menu to meet individual choices. The home has a full complaints procedure and has a range of safeguarding measures to ensure that users are safely cared for. The environment has been subject to a refurbishment programme and there are plans in place to extend the premises to increase the facilities available. The AQAA commits the home to the full training of staff, including in the area of privacy and dignity. It states that there is a full induction programme for new staff and that supervision is regularly provided to support them. All staff have a vocational qualification which is an indicator of good practice. The registered manager is well experienced in this work, has full qualifications to undertake this role and has a ongoing quality assurance system to ensure that improvements are continually sought. There was a good response to the request for surveys from both users of the service and staff. All responses were positive and reflected well on the standard of care being provided in the home. Comments included I really feel happy at The Croft. The home is a lovely place to live. The staff are always nice. I love doing activities in the home. Work as a team to give residents the best quality of life. A review of evidence since the last key inspection found that safeguarding matters have been referred to us as required. Otherwise, the notifications have been routine Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 and have not caused any concern. There has been no need to visit this home as a result of any information received by us. A review of the findings of the last key, unannounced inspection confirmed that this home is rated as a 2 star, good service. All outcome groups were assessed as good and there were no requirements resulting from the inspection. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? The annual service review has shown that the home continues to provide a good service to its users. There have been no issues highlighted as a result of this process. The Care Quality Commission will continue to monitor information about this service and will carry out an inspection when required. We can inspect the home at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using it.
