Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information we have received or asked for since the last key inspection. This included: The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) which was completed by the registered manager. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. Surveys returned to us from people using the service and from other people with an interest in the service. Information about how the service has managed any complaints. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection and annual service review. What has this told us about the service? The home sent us their AQAA when we asked for it. It was clear and gave us all the information we asked for. We received nine surveys from people who use the service, some had completed with support of relatives. Most included positive responses about the service and support they receive at The Manor House. Five people indicated they always get the care and support they need, four said they usually did. Three said there were usually enough staff, six said there always were. They commented as follows on what they felt the service does well -Very good communication with residents and family. The care is very well organised and put in place for clients needs- The staff are genuinely warm and friendly and create a welcoming environment. They deal with problems promptly and with due care - In the short time that my relative has stayed there she clearly feels looked after- Very good carers, and the production of good luncheon mealsLooks after all my basic needs- The Manor House provides excellent care for the elderly the staff are patient, helpful friendly. It is clean and fresh and always tidyEverything is fine. When asked what could better they said - The rooms could be cleaner and checked throughout the day -I think the view of quite a few of the residents isl there could be more things of interest for them during the day We received surveys from nine relatives of people using the service, most considered the support provided was always as expected and that individual chosen lifestyles were encouraged. Comments included - The manor House provides good service and care for the elderly they also have trips out and entertainment on, they also have charity functions. The home got Gold for Investors In People in the North West - The care Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 home has a sense of warmth when you enter the building. All the staff are very friendly and all have a caring nature. I am so pleased we found this lovely place - Staff at the Manor House are approachable, friendly and quick to rectify problems. They are clearly very good at what they do.- The service offered is always of a high standard and I am always impressed when I visit, as indeed are other relatives- They meet the residents needs We received ten completed staff surveys from care staff who work at the home and the following written comments were made on what they felt he home does well - Give residents choices - Meet personal needs, promote independence - It caters for various needs of clients dependent on age and the reason they are now residing at the Manor House- The home takes care of residents and any needs they may have- The Manor House is a lovely home I wouldnt hesitate to recommend it to anyone, management work extremely hard, to maintain the high standard -Treats the residents with respect and dignity and compassion, it gives excellent care - The training is always available if we want it. Do better comments from staff were - In my opinion the home could listen to staff and take their views into account more oftenAlthough there is entertainment going on throughout the year, there could be more activities, more time could be made for carers to sit with the service users - Not enough choice with food -The home could value their long term staff members more, to encourage morale - The staff would appreciate more verbal hand-overs Most people using the service and their relatives, indicated they were aware of the homes complaints procedure. Most relatives said that any concerns raised had been appropriately dealt with. Staff said in surveys, that they knew what to do if someone raised concerns about The Manor House. The AQAA provided a very comprehensive evaluation of the service and identified several good practice matters for further development, including activities, catering and staffing arrangements. We looked at the information in the AQAA also the responses in the surveys and our judgment is that The Manor House is still providing a good service and they know what improvements they need to make. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? The Care Quality Commission will continue to monitor information about this service and will carry out an inspection when required.
