Annual Service Review Page 3 of 5 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received since the last key inspection on the 3rd July 20087. This included: The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was completed and sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for those people who use the service. The AQAA form tells us what the home does at present, what they feel they do well and what they feel they need to do better. Looked at feedback surveys returned to us from staff. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement The previous key inspection report that showed the home was rated as excellent. What has this told us about the service? Management sent us their annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) in June 2009. The information provided showed what improvements management has made and their plans for the next 12 months. Some of the improvements they told us about were: The number of staff who have obtained their national qualification in care (NVQ) has increased. They have introduced more checks on the facilities and records within the home so that they can be assured they are giving the best service possible. Continual improvements to the environment are being made. They have completely refurbished the kitchen and dining room and have replaced the perimeter fence. As part of the review we asked some staff to complete our surveys telling us what they think about the services and facilities provided at the home. The staff told us that they had a good manager, felt supported and that staff morale was high. They told us that the training they received was good and helped them to do their jobs properly. The staff also said that they felt the residents were cared for extremely well and they received good well balanced meals. No complaints have been made to us and we have had no cause to visit the home since the last inspection. Our judgement is that the staff are still providing an excellent service for the people living at the home. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan. We will do a key inspection by the 3rd July 2011. We can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using it.
