What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received , or asked for , since the last inspection. This included: Surveys returned to us by people using the service and from other people with a interest in the service. Information we have received about how the service has managed any complaints. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called Notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection and the results of any other visits that we have made to the service in the last 12 months. Relevant information from other organisations. What other people have told us about the service. What has this told us about the service? The previous Key Inspection assessed this service as providing good outcomes for the people who use this service. We have not received any complaints about this service since our last Key Inspection. In a telephone conversation with the registered manager he reported that the service is running well with staff working very well together to meet the needs of the four residents. Unfortunately, due to postal difficulties this report was written without receipt of the Annual Quality Assurance Assessment ( AQAA). The AQQA is a self assessment which the home s manager completes that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. A lengthly discussion took place by telephone with the homes manager who raised no concerns regarding the operation of the home. Information was received from all four residents who reside in the home as well as three staff and three health care professionals. No concerns were raised in the surveys, with comments such as I am very happy living here, staff treat me well and the environment is very clean and the food is good. One health care professional stated the staff do all that they can to ensure that a clients stays in the community, by working with them even through difficulties before considering complaining or taking further action, and I have found it a pleasure to work with staff at Trevelyan Rd. Other comments included they are well resourced to consider service users Mental Health needs, cultural needs and they always seek advice from services and very supportive, culturally appropriate service. Comments in staff questionnaires included The home helps clients to develop independence skills so that they can live their daily Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 life, I think Trevelyan Rd cares for clients very well and the home provides a good service to their clients One professional stated in their survey that they would like to see the home increase staff confidence to work more autonomously, as the service is sometimes too dependent on the manager to make comments on the progress of the service users. Management needs to give consideration to this comment. The home continues to let us know about things that have happened since our last inspection and they have shown that they have managed issues well. From the information in the surveys, discussion with the manager and from assessing information received since the last inspection it is our judgement is that the home is still providing a good service and that they know what further improvements they need to make. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan and will do a Key Inspection by 15th October 2010. However, we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service.
