Annual Service Review Page 2 of 6 Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection or annual service review. This included: -The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. - Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. - What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. - The previous key inspection and the results of any other visits that we have made to the service in the last 12 months. - Relevant information from other organisations. - What other people have told us about the service. What has this told us about the service? The home did not send us their Annual Quality Assurance Assessment (AQAA) when it was first request. We looked at the information in the AQAA, which showed what improvements to the service had been made in the last twelve months and further development plans The AQAA showed that the home has made improvements as a result of suggestions from the people who use the service and their families. This includes looking at the possibility of a covered outdoor seating area for people. New wide screen TVs (40inch) in the main lounges now allow those who are sat furthest from the TV to see the screen better. People raised their concerns regarding one of the entertainers, they felt he was a bit grumpy/arrogant and didnt listen to their views. As a result this entertainer is no longer used by the home. The home has purchased new blinds in all of their lounges. As a result of listening to people the home has incorporated a drinks afternoon every Friday. The Accounts and Administration said in the returned AQAA that in the last 12 months they have made one of the Senior Carers solely responsible for reviewing the care plans on a monthly basis. He said this ensures that nothing is missed from the care plans and as a result the persons file is both comprehensive and current. They make sure very person has a copy of the Term & Conditions and have completely changed their admission procedure and pre-admission assessment. This ensure that they have a complete overview of peoples needs, like and dislikes and lifestyle. Victoria House is currently auditing its Drugs Administration team to ensure that the homes Policies & Procedures are being adhered to. Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 Previously no record was made of any complaints as picked up in the last key inspection. Since this was noted all complaints no matter how small are documented in the complaints book which can be found in the main office. The file shows all complaints have been logged, investigated and resolved. The AQAA said the hairdresser room has been completely renovated and several bedrooms have been refurbished and painted throughout the year as part of the monthly repair checks. The homes main bathrooms have been completely renovated, and this includes new taps, new toilet seat, new flooring and tiles throughout. Health and Safety information is displayed throughout the home and a whole range of risk assessments are carried out for the building and working practices. Health and Safety of people who use the service and staff is promoted and protected. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan, and will do a key inspection by 16 July 2010. However we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service.
