Annual Service Review Page 3 of 5 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review:
What did we do for this annual service review? The last inspection of the home took place on 08 July 2008 and the previous rating for the service was Good. We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection. We looked at information we have about how the service has managed any complaints as well as what the home has told us about things that have happened at Willow Lodge. These are called notifications and are a legal requirement. We looked at the outcome of the previous key inspection and the results of any other visits that we have made to the service in the last 12 months. We looked at relevant information from other organisations and what other people have told us about the service. What has this told us about the service? Previous contact with the service has shown that they usually manage issues well. The Willow Lodge team work well with us and have shown us that their service generally continues to provide good outcomes for the people who use it. Neither the Commission nor the home have been notified of any safeguarding concerns involving people living at the home. No safeguarding investigations have been carried out. The Commission has not been informed of any complaints. The manager, Mr Collinson, confirmed that no complaints have been received by the home. Since taking up his post at the home, Mr Collinson has improved the facilities and services provided at Willow Court. For example: -The home has been renovated and refurbished. Thirty three of the homes fourty eight bedrooms have been completely refurbished. This has been managed in such a way as to minimise the impact upon service users. Also, three of the homes assisted bathrooms have been completely renovated and new high-low baths fitted; -The manager has introduced extra facilities to improve the lives of the people using the service. For example, a cinema room has been set up. Chilled fruit drink machines have been made available in the lounges; -The manager has established a training venue within the home. This is used to provide training to Willow Lodge staff as well as staff from the providers other homes. External agencies also access this facility. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan, and will do a key inspection by 01/07/2010. However, we can inspect the home at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using Willow Lodge. Annual Service Review Page 4 of 5 Reader Information
