This condition will then be removed. Date of last inspection Brief description of the care home Albany House is an older detached building, which is situated in the village of Tisbury, Wiltshire. The home benefits from a good location within the centre of the village, within walking distance of the local amenities. A main line station from Waterloo to the

Accommodation is provided on 2 floors of the home with the majority of the bedrooms provided being single. The home provides two communal areas and a large conservatory, which leads to a pleasant patio area and garden. Albany House is registered to provide personal care for 21 older people. The home was purchased by BM Care Limited in Jan 2006. Currently there is no registered manager. Care Homes for Older People Page 3 of 9 What we found:
This inspection was a random inspection by the Pharmacist Inspector to follow up on requirements set at the last inspection in relation to the safe handling of medicines. The other outstanding requirements from previous inspections were not assessed at this inspection. Many improvements had been made since the last inspection. The medication administration records were clear and accurate, however not all of the written entries had been signed by a second member of staff as a check. Staff had signed for medicines given or written a code to show why it had not. Variable doses were recorded with the dose given. We looked at the records of some people who required pain relief, their care plans stated what they needed and whether they could ask for it themselves. The people who choose to manage their own medicines were supported by regular checks and updates to their care plans. One person has help from a family member which should be recorded separately. We saw records of medicines received into and returned from the home and a separate record of controlled drugs. Changes to dose, new medications and doctors guidance is recorded in a communications book for all staff as well as on the medication administration record. Current good practice guidance for the recording of anti coagulant medicines was in use. People in the home are protected from risk by the improved systems for handling medicines.
