Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection. This included: The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection. Relevant information from other organisations. What other people have told us about the service. The last key inspection was carried out on the 26th July 2007 and the date of the last Annual Service Review was 22nd July 2008. What has this told us about the service? The home sent us their annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA). It was clear and gave us all the information we asked for. We looked at the information in the AQAA and our judgement is that the home is still providing an excellent service and that they listen to the views of people who use the service and they are always looking for any further improvements they need to make. As a result of listening to people they have been able to make the following changes. The home has been able to find alternative day care placements giving people more choices and variety. This has also applied to the different courses that people want to do. This makes sure that people have opportunities for personal development and independence training. People have chosen two separate holidays that have been arranged by the home. People have also been encouraged to choose their own colour schemes when their bedrooms were re-decorated. This enables people to live the life they choose. They inform us that a new CD has been produced alongside the Service Users Guide which provides a service users view of the Community Housing Scheme as a whole. This has been made using many ideas put forward from service users. A person who uses the service also narrates on the CD. The home has made sure that the staff rota is flexible which enables more staff cover at weekends due to organised leisure activities for people living at the home. This makes sure that peoples activities at weekends are not compromised. People living at the home have been encouraged to look at eating more healthily. This makes sure that they live a healthier lifestyle. The organisation new health and safety manager has reviewed all the organisations risk assessments they carry out. This is to reduce the number of them and to make them more user friendly and easier to follow. This makes sure that both the home and the organisation make sure that people living at the home are not put at unnecessary risk. The new human resources computer system has helped keep staff keep up with Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 training and maintain accurate training records for the organisation. This makes sure that staff who work at the home are competent to do the work they are employed to do. Surveys had not been sent to people for them to tell us their views about the service in time for them to be included in this report. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan and we will do a key inspection by the 25th July 2010. However we can inspect the service at any time, to look at the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service.
