What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection. This included: The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints or safeguarding incidents. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection and the results of any other visits that we have made to the service in the last 12 months. Relevant information from other organisations. What people have told us about the service. What has this told us about the service? The AQAA gave us very good information about the service. It gave us examples of what they do well, how they have improved and what they want to do better. They told us, We offer a safe and caring environment where people live in a homely atmosphere. People who live at the home are encouraged to be as independent as possible and staff work with a more personal focus. At the last inspection we asked the home to improve activities for people living at the home. In the AQAA the manager said, People are engaging more in activities and enjoy time in and out of the home doing things they enjoy. We received eight surveys from people who live at the home, which told us people are very happy with the service they receive. Seven people said they always receive the care and support they need; one person said they usually receive the care and support they need. Everyone said the staff listen and act on what they say. Four people made additional comments telling us the food is good. The home has let us know about things that have happened since our last key inspection and they have shown us that they have managed issues satisfactorily. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 We are not going to change our inspection plan, and will do a key inspection by 12 August 2010. However we can inspect the service at any time if we have any concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service.
