What did we do for this annual service review? We asked the home manager to complete an Annual Quality Assurance Assessment (AQAA). The AQAA is the self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for the people using the service (living at the home). It also provides us with information about the number of people living in the home, their care needs and the staff group caring for them. Four people who live at the home and three staff working at the home returned survey forms in October 2008. This provided information about the service from people who live there. We look at what the service has told us about things that have happened. These are called notification and are a legal requirement. We looked at the number and type of complaints received since the last inspection. The previous inspection report and our finding at that time were also taken into account. We considered what other people have told us about the service. What has this told us about the service? The AQAA was returned to the Commission when it was asked for. This gave clear information about the service. We looked at the information in the AQAA. This shows that 13 of the 18 staff employed have achieved an NVQ level 2 or above. It provided information about plans to further improve the service in the next twelve months. The comments received from the surveys returned were mostly positive. These included: - We have been supported by the manager and staff to make a difficult move easier. Manager always makes himself available. Impressed with the care taken to keep the home clean. The staff are always pleasant The food is well cooked and tasty. There are several client who would benefit form occupational therapy Music center never seems to be playing. The four people who returned surveys indicated that activities they an take part in were were usually or sometimes provided. The Commission has received notifications from the manager regarding events that affect people who live in the home since the last Annual Service Review. One complaint has been received by the Commission since our last Annual Service Review.. There has also been one Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults referral. The AQAA indicates that no complaints have been received by the home. The surveys returned indicate that people know who to speak to if they have any concerns. Our previous inspection judged the home to be providing an excellent service for people who live there. Two Recommendations were made at the last inspection. The manager has provided information regarding how the recommendations had been met. However the last Annual Service Review found that the complaints and vulnerable adult referrals the home were aware of had not been included in the Annual Quality Assurance Assessment sent to the Commission. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 We will do a random inspection by 30 th October 2009 to look at the issues raised in this and the previous review. This inspection could mean that we will bring our next key inspection forward. Annual Service Review Page 5 of 6 Reader Information
