What the care home does well

The organisation and the staff team managed the situation extremely well, and did over and above their duty to ensure that everyone was safe and their well-being looked after. People said they were not too scared and found some of the experience quite exciting.

What the care home could do better:

The organisation now needs to ensure that the staff team is given the right amount of support to introduce paperwork, care plans, health plans and set up systems for the smooth running of the home. While potentially offering more support to people while they adjust to their new home and setting.

They were temporarily housed in a church hall and then in a nearby hotel for a couple of weeks. A suitable house was found in Maryport that could take most residents. One person with mobility difficulties is now at another home run by West House. This Random Inspection was carried out as the home was due to have a full Key Inspection. Instead we have classed the home as a dormant service while repairs are undertaken. The new property 23 Wood Street is currently unergoing registration with us. The organisation, West House, anticipate that repairs will take approximately 3 months, and then residents will return to Home Farm.
