Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review:
What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection or annual service review. This included The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. Surveys returned to us by people using the service and from other people with an interest in the service. Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection and the results of any other visits that we have made to the service in the last 12 months. Relevant information from other organisations. What other people have told us about the service. What has this told us about the service? We received the AQAA when requested and it contained most of the information we required. Some areas could have been expanded to show how the home intends to improve services over the next 12 months. We carried out a Random inspection on 1st October as a result of a safeguarding alert and we wanted to assure ourselves that peoples personal and health care needs were being met. This report can be made available on request, and essentially we are satisfied that needs are being met, but we have made several requirements in respect of ensuring that plans for care give better details and instructions to staff about how to meet peoples needs. We particularly want to ensure that plans of care include risk assessments where cot/bed sides are being used, better wound care plans and clear plans of care where bowel care has been identified as being an issue for an individual. We will be asking the home for an action plan to show us how they intend to comply with the regulations we have set, and we will complete a further random inspection later in the year. This will be to check on compliance of the requirements made. As part of the ASR process we sent surveys to the people who live at the home and we received 5 back. Overall the comments were very positive and included Friendly small home, warm and clean, comfortable rooms and sitting areas well arranged. Staff have time to speak to residents and visitors. Lovely cakes for tea. It is a good and caring home My x always looks clean and bright and always dressed well. Communication with x is difficult but staff cope with their needs very well. Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 We also received 4 surveys from staff who said that they were given good support and training and staffing levels were sufficient to meet the needs of the people they care for. We are satisfied at this current time that the home provide good outcomes for people living there. They have been fully engaged in the safeguarding process and have implemented some positive changes as part of their own investigation. This includes reinstating daily care plans for staff to complete in respect of what personal care and support each person has had each day and evening. This helps to monitor how well peoples needs are being met. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We will be completing a further random inspection later in the year.
