Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information we had received, or asked for, since the last key inspection. This included: The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well the outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. Surveys returned to us by people using the service and from other people with an interest in the service, including the staff. Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service. These are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection and the results of any other visits that we may have made to the service in the last 12 months. Relevant information from other organisations. What other people have told us about the service. What has this told us about the service? The home sent us their AQAA when we asked for it. It was clear and gave us all the information we asked for. We looked at information in the AQAA and our judgement is that the home is still providing a good quality service and they know what further improvements they need to make. The manager told us in the AQAA about improvements that had been made since we last visited. This included the ongoing development of a person-centred service. Assessments now included details about each persons life history. Recognition of personal life achievements ensures that individuals can be supported to celebrate their experiences in a meaningful way. It also ensures that the activities provided in the home are relevant to individuals preferred interests. It was pleasing to learn that the people accommodated are encouraged to participate in events held in the owners nursing home in Chorlton. This encourages people to develop new relationships and provides opportunities to share experiences of life in care homes. We received three completed surveys from staff and four from people living in the home. The seven people said positive things about The Conifers, such as, Staff attend to my auntys needs very well and treat her with dignity and respect, I am not forced to do something I dont want to do, I am very well looked after and the food is excellent. Four people said that improvements could be made by encouraging people to take advantage of organised trips out of the home and one person suggested that Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 the external paintwork should be improved. No complaints have been made about the service provided by the Conifers in the previous 12 months. Concerns were recently expressed by an environmental health officer in relation to an unlocked cellar door. The service have confirmed that immediate action was taken to ensure that the door was secured at all times and only accessible to authorised personnel. A recent incident in the home had been referred to Trafford Social Services for investigation under their Safeguarding Adults procedures. The home continues to let us know about things that have happened since our last key inspection and they have shown that they have managed issues well. they work well with us and have shown that their service continues to provide good outcomes for the people who use it. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We think that people are still receiving good quality outcomes and that action is taken to continually make improvements where necessary. We will continue to monitor the service and will undertake a key inspection as necessary.
