Care Homes for Older People Page 3 of 7 What we found:
We carried out our last key inspection on 11 April 2007 and subsequently produced a report about our visit. We also conducted an Annual Service Review (ASR) on 26 July 2008 and in that report we said that the home was continuing to provide good quality outcomes for the people living there. We planned to carry out our next key inspection in April 2009. On 5 January 2009 a serious incident occurred at the home when a refuse collection vehicle rolled down the driveway into the front of the house. No one was injured but the home had to close temporarily so that structural repairs could be carried out. All of the people living at the home were accommodated in other care homes in Calderdale. All of the staff continued to be employed by Valley View. They maintained regular contact with the people who had to move out by visiting them in their temporary homes and keeping in contact with their families. The arrangements have been extremely well managed and we have been kept fully informed of progress over recent weeks. We have been informed recently that the building work has been completed and the home has been totally refurbished. Plans are underway for people to move back to Valley View, if they wish to, on a phased basis from 26/5/09.
