What did we do for this annual service review? We look at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection or annual service review. This includes: The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection and Annual Service Review and the results of any other visits that we have made to the service in the last 12 months. Relevant information from other organisations. What other people have told us about the service. What has this told us about the service? The home sent us their annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) when we asked for it. It was clear and gave us all the information we asked for. We looked at the information in the AQAA and based on that information our judgement is that the home is continuing to provide good outcomes for people living at the home. The manager and registered provider know what further improvements they need to make, to further enhance the outcomes for people living at the home. They told us that: they intend to further develop the whole approach model when looking at managing behaviour. they have plans to improve the garden area and redecorate areas of the home. they are continuing to train staff to the specific support needs of clients. We asked the home what they do well. They told us: that their staff have the necessary skills to effectively meet peoples needs. that people have person centred plans which are reviewed and adapted as needed. Annual Service Review Page 3 of 5 that all people involved in the home are encouraged to suggest ways in which they think the service can be improved. that they use independant Mental Capacity Advocates where needed and are training staff in the implications of Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards. that they liase with other health care professionals to make sure that multi-disciplinary decisions are made about what is in peoplesbest interests. We have not recieved any complaints about the service and they have continued to let us know through notifications of significant events within the home. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We will do a key inspection before October 2010. However we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service. Annual Service Review Page 4 of 5 Reader Information
