What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection or annual service review. This included: The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. Any survey forms that we received from people who use the service and their relatives. The previous key inspection. What has this told us about the service? The service sent us their annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA). This was completed in full and gave us all the information we asked for with the sections on what the home could do better completed with a good degree of careful thought. The AQAA told us how the views of people who use the service are sought through questionnaires and residents meetings. As a result of listening to the views of people who use the service a number of changes have been made such as incorporating residents choices into the meals provided, refurbishing a bathroom and providing more board games for residents. There are also plans for the home to have its own website. The AQAA also described how the service aimed to meet the National Minimum Standards and a how the service user guide has been updated with a copy given to each resident. as well as refurbishment of the kitchen. In addition all staff had completed training in adult abuse awareness. The home also has plans to provide further training to staff and for further refurbishment of some areas of the home. We received one survey form from a resident of Darley Dale which they completed with the help of a relative. The resident indicated that they Always received the care and support they needed and that they Always liked the meals at the home. Although they also indicated that they did not know how to make a formal complaint. Comments were that the home did well with the general care of the residents and that the home was Very clean and caring. The AQAA told us that the service had not received any complaints in the twelve months prior to October 2009 and that there were no safeguarding referrals made about any of the residents. We looked at the information in the AQAA and our judgement is that the home is still providing a good service and that they know what further improvements they need to make. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 The service was last inspected on the 22nd December 2008. However we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service. Annual Service Review Page 5 of 6 Reader Information
