Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection, which we completed on 20th January 2009. This included the following. The Annual Quality Assurance Assessment that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. Surveys returned to us by twelve of the people who use the service, six members of staff and four people who visit the home in a professional capacity. Information we have received about how the service has managed complaints, concerns or allegations. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called Notifications and are a legal requirement. The last key inspection report. What has this told us about the service? The home sent us their annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) when we asked for it. It was clear and gave us all the information we asked for. We looked at the information in the AQAA and our judgement is that the home is still providing an excellent service and that they know what further improvements they need to make. The surveys received from twelve of the people who use the service were all very positive and below are examples of some of the comments received. We could not ask for better care The home and the staff are excellent If you cannot be in your own home, this is the next best thing A very friendly atmosphere Very clean and homely Dawn is excellent Although all of the responses were positive, two areas were identified where the service could be improved upon. Some people said that they would like to be taken out more often and some said that they would like more green vegetables, salad and fresh fruit. Feedback from the surveys completed and returned to us by six members of staff were also very positive. One of the nicest homes I have worked in Care is 100 percent all the time A friendly and homely environment However, we were also told that the staffing levels were sometime too low to allow Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 enough time to be devoted to meeting the social, recreational and occupational needs of the residents. The four surveys completed by people who visit the home in a professional capacity were also positive. Dawn Residential Home is a fantastic example of how all residential homes should be, the staff are friendly, polite and beyond helpful Having visited many residential homes, this is undoubtedly amongst the best for its pleasant, clean atmosphere and helpful caring staff The Annual Quality Assurance Assessment tells us that no complaints have been received since the last inspection and our records tell us that we have received no concerns, complaints or allegations about this service. Although they have not always done so, the home is now sending us Notifications about deaths, accidents and incidents that could have a negative impact on the people who use the service. The last key inspection was completed on 20th January 2009. No requirements were made in this report inspection and Dawn Residential Home was assessed as providing Excellent outcomes for the people who use the service. We have not changed out judgement of this home. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change out inspection plan, and will do a key inspection by 20th January 2012. However we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service.
