Day care is also provided for which a designated member of staff is employed. Field House is part of Somerset Care Limited. The home does not currently have a manager registered with us. The home is set well back from the road with a long drive and circular front garden. There are parking areas to the front and side of the house. Large, attractive gardens and patio areas surround the home. These are accessible to people from a number of ground floor rooms. The home consists of a listed building with later ground floor extensions.
Annual Service Review Page 2 of 6 Accommodation is on four floors serviced by a passenger lift. There are steps to a small number of rooms. These would not be accessible to people with mobility problems. Fees at the home currently (17-02-09) range from 390. to 555. pounds per week. What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection. This included The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) was sent to CQC after being completed by the manager in January 2010 . The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gives us some numerical information about the service. Surveys were sent out to people using the service and other people with an interest in the service. Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection. What has this told us about the service? The interim manager completed the annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) and submitted it to the Care Quality Commission in a timely manner. The AQAA was fully completed and gave clear detail about the progress of the service over the past twelve months and looked at what improvements were planned over the next twelve months. We were told that A recommendation was made from the visiting inspector Jane Poole in our last inspection on the 17th February 2009 to ensure that our residents are aware that they are able to have their breakfast at anytime. Following discussion with the residents we have now implemented what we call a rolling breakfast Which ensures that as soon as the residents come down to the dining room they are served there breakfast promptly. Feedback from our residents is very positive. In addition the home told us Following positive feedback from the rolling breakfast further discussion with the residents has highlighted the need to change our medication administration times. We are currently planning protected meal times for our residents in January . This will mean changing the times we administer all medication times to meet our residents needs. In response to feedback from residents and families we will be renaming what at the moment is called the unit part of the home. It is felt in keeping in with the homes history to rename it Berryman View. Following feedback from social services and our own observation we are relocating our two step down beds to the ground floor with access to kitchen facilities to promote independence for people wishing to return to their own home. We received surveys from nine staff member who work at the home, two healthcare professionals and seven people who live at the home. The forms from people living at the home were positive. People answered positively to the questions asked. Comments included everything is done, the staff are very helpful The food is very good. The staff are very kind and helpful. I am treated and looked after really well. Staff told us that they are given up to date information with regard about the needs of Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 people living at the home. Staff told us that they received induction and received adequate training. Comments from staff included Our home is a happy home, we all work well together and help each other when times get tough. Our manager is very good. She is very supportive. Field house tries to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere We receive have received no concerns or complaints about the service. We receive regular and appropriate notifications in line with Regulation 37 of the Care Home Regulations. The manager is not currently registered with us. An application needs to be submitted without delay. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan, and will do a key inspection by January 2012.
