What the care home does well Information held at the home shows that the staff team have regular training regarding safeguarding people from abuse, and what to do if abuse is either suspected or alleged. The records held at the home show that one safeguarding referral was made to the Local Authority last year, and the issues it raised were managed well. Discussions with the project leader showed that they had a good understating of the policies and procedures regarding safeguarding and protection The service has an established complaints procedure, and the records relating to complaints show that none have been received since the last inspection. Information held at the home showed that people have care plans that contain details of their assessed needs; details of how those needs are to be met by the staff team and details of any reviews undertaken by the staff in consultation with the person in receipt of the care (or their relative). People who responded to our survey said that their relatives receive personal care and support in a dignified manner. Information held within people`s files showed that the service has an emphasis on enabling people to develop patterns of behaviour and to engage in activities that are both positive and fulfilling. Staff members that were spoken with said that they have done a lot of work with individual`s focusing on their capabilities in order to support them to respond to challenges and obstacles they may face. Evidence within people`s files shows that this is undertaken by way of positive care planning and risk assessment based on individual needs, choices and abilities. Information held at the home showed that healthcare issues are taken seriously, and that appropriate plans of care are in place. Staff at the home liaise closely with external healthcare professionals as and when required. People are supported to attend external appointments, and if required, arrangements are made by the staff for healthcare staff at attend people at the home. People who responded to our survey said that the staff deal with healthcare issues, and said that this is done sensitively and in a timely fashion. The records and methods by which medication is administered are satisfactory. People living at the home said that they like it, and that the staff were very helpful. Oneperson said "I`m really happy here.It`s the best place they had ever lived in." The feedback we received from the people who responded to our surveys was all positive. People said that the staff were helpful, well trained, good at communicating issue affecting people at the home, and always polite. The home is a detached property with a large enclosed secure garden to the rear, and parking area to the front and side of the property. The home offers accommodation for up to five young adults who each have their own bedroom. Several bathrooms and toilets are located throughout the home. Prior to our visit, we reviewed all the information we held about this service, this included the last inspection report, any surveys we had received from people with an interest in the service, the services Annual Quality Assurance assessment (AQAA) and any other correspondence such as notifications and complaints (if any). Whilst at the home we had the opportunity to speak to the project leader, review various documents held at the service, and discuss the progress of the service including progress since the last time it was inspected. During the course of our visit we focussed on the outcomes for people relating to healthcare, personal care, complaints and protection and none of the areas that we looked at raised any concerns for us.
