Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection or annual service review. This included The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. Surveys returned to us by people using the service. Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection and the results of any other visits that we have made to the service in the last 12 months. Relevant information from other organisations. What other people have told us about the service. What has this told us about the service? We received the annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) when we had asked for it. We got good information from the AQAA. It was very detailed with clear evidence of how the home has continued to provide a good service since the last key inspection. This information included how this service involves people in the running of the home. Weekly meetings take place where people are encouraged to put forward suggestions for improvement. As a result the variety of food served has been changed, the way that suppers are served has been altered and there is a wider selection of activities offered. In the surveys returned by people living in this home, they say that they usually or always get the care and support they need and that staff usually or always act on what they say and that they usually or always like the meals served here. Positive comments from people included that the home does most things well, that the home provides a caring and clean environment, that people are taken care of, that the home is friendly and that laundry is well cared for. Two people think that the home need more staff. The AQAA tells us that the home is recruiting and training more staff. One person thought that more effort could be made to keep noise levels down. They commented that housekeeping staff could be noisy. This person also went on to say that the home is excellent. Its wonderful what they have done to the home and it will benefit all. We have not received any concerns about this service in the last year. The service told us that they have received some complaints and that these have all been dealt with. The manager has taken appropriate actions to address any staff issues and has contacted external agencies for advice when needed. We are kept up to date with all events at the home through notifications. Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We will carry out an unannounced key inspection, as already planned, by October 2011. We will inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of this service or the safety of the people using this service.
